Relaxed Penguins looking to take control, Ottawa tries to find footing heading into Game 2

PITTSBURGH – The Ottawa Senators don’t think they need to play a perfect game to beat the Pittsburgh Penguins, just a smarter one.

The Penguins rolled to a 4-1 win in Game 1 of the Eastern Conference semifinals on Tuesday. Pittsburgh can take a commanding lead in the series if it can win Game 2 on Friday.

Ottawa coach Paul MacLean says his team needs to “break even” on special teams if it wants to have a chance. That didn’t happen in Game 1, as the Penguins scored twice on the power play and once shorthanded.

The Senators say they like the way they played when the game was at even strength and hope to improve on a power play that went 0 for 6 in the opener.
