Patrick Cantlay has confirmed he will be getting married in Rome on Monday after finding himself at the center of a whirlwind of controversy at the Ryder Cup.
Cantlay was accused of sparking a rift within Team USA after he questioned why players were not being paid to play in Rome.
Reports suggested that Cantlay showed his frustration by refusing to wear a team cap. That sparked taunts from the home crowd and eventually led to a furious row involving Rory McIlroy and Cantlay’s caddie.
The US PGA even requested extra security for Cantlay for Sunday’s singles showdown after LaCava celebrated in McIlroy’s face as he prepared for a crucial putt to save the final match on Saturday.
Cantlay dismissed the reports as ‘outright lies’ after he sealed victory over Justin Rose on Sunday. On Monday, the USA star will put the storm to one side to marry his fiancee Nikki Guidish.

Cantlay will tie the knot with Nikki Guidish, a 31-year-old pharmacist and former fitness model
Guidish is a 31-year-old pharmacist and former fitness model. Cantlay went public with the relationship back in 2021.
The couple announced their engagement one year later and Guidish has been in Rome this week to support the American team.
‘The start to an amazing week with incredible people,’ she wrote on social media alongside a selection of photos from the Ryder Cup’s opening gala on the eve of the match.
But over recent days, Guidish has watched tempers flare – with Cantlay and his caddie in the eye of the storm.

LaCava, who used to caddie for Tiger Woods, took off his cap and waved it in the air when Cantlay made a decisive putt on 18 in the crucial last fourball match.
He was hitting back at the fans who had been taunting Cantlay all day, waving their hats in the air and chanting ‘where’s your cap?’
Cantlay blocked out the crowd again on Sunday to beat Rose 2 and 1 as the USA fell to Europe.
