If there’s anything more interesting than the Indian cricket team’s matches these days then it is the dressing room celebration videos which also includes the declaration of the ‘Best Fielder’ award. So far fielding coach T Dilip has used multiple innovative methods like declaring the name on the giant screen of a stadium to the spider cam delivering the winner’s name and the medal. After India thrashed Sri Lanka by 302 runs on Thursday in Mumbai to seal a semi-final spot in the 2023 World Cup, it was the turn of an Indian cricketing legend to announce the winner.

“When we were playing in South Africa, we had a chart. It had ‘I can, we can’ mentioned and every player had to sign that chart before going out on the field. It was all about commitment…that I will give my 100 commitment to the country and the team,” Sachin said in the pre-recorded video.
“That is exactly what the current team is doing by giving a fielding medal. It is a reflection of your commitment to do something for your colleague, for your team and for the country. I’ve simply loved the brand of cricket that you have played so far. It’s been a joy to watch.”
He announced Iyer as the winner of the fielding medal after finishing his message as the dressing room broke into celebrations.
India have emerged as the best team in the World Cup so far with seven wins from seven matches and are the only side to qualify for the semis so far.
