A Canadian man has revealed he felt ‘like he’s in Top Boy’ after heading to a London chicken shop for the first time – before sharing his surprise at the bargain price of a ‘delicious meal’ in the capital.
Matt Giffen, from Toronto, took to TikTok to document his visit to the popular chain Morley’s – where he picked up hot wings and chips for £2.
The influencer, who often shares videos of culture shocks he has experienced while dating his British girlfriend, said he was ‘living his Top Boy dream’.
Standing right outside Morley’s, he explained: ‘I’ve watched way too much Top Boy in my day to not come to one of these while I’m in London, let’s go!’
Overwhelmed by the menu options showcased on a flashy red and white display, he told his 60,000 fans: ‘Guys I don’t know what to get’, while he walked them through his first-ever chicken shop experience.
What is deemed a night out treat for many has become a daytime staple for some – but when one Canadian man tried chicken shop food, he ‘felt like he was in the hit Netflix series Top Boy’

Eventually, Matt decided to munch on the classic post night out meal – chicken and chips, although fans were not impressed when he asked for ‘one chicken and a fry’, and left without a drink, claiming it would have been included in the price.
He joked: ‘I feel like I’m in a movie in here bro. About to meet up with Sully,’ he joked, in reference to the character from the hit Netflix drama.
Pleased with his choice, he went home to show his girlfriend that he ‘secured the bag’.
To get into character, Matt even sported his ‘new roadman jacket’ – a black puffer as worn by many of the Top Boy gangsters.
He pointed his camera towards his girlfriend, while looking visibly shocked, and exclaimed: ‘All this for just £2, babe can you believe that?!’ to which his unfazed British girlfriend replied ‘yeah’.
The influencer couldn’t ‘forget his cheeky Nando’s’ as he reached for Nando’s hot Peri Peri sauce, and poured some onto the side of his plate before digging into the chips which he found to be ‘really good’.
Alluding to the smoke detector that went off in the shop earlier in the video, Matt joked: ‘Let’s give the chicken a try, the place almost lit on fire so this should be good!’
Chuckling at the success of his ‘Top Boy’ meal so far, he eagerly proceeded to bite into his piece of chicken.
The stunned Canadian rated the greasy meal so highly, he said: ‘Oh my God, it’s like KFC skin, why is so this good?!’ while drooling over this £2 find.
His girlfriend explained: ‘There’s a reason why all the Top Boys eat there’, to which her partner confessed: ‘Other than the Sunday roast, you guys have been on fire!’

Brits were hysterical after seeing this Canadian man try chicken shop food for the first time, and one even thought he’d nailed the South London aesthetic he intended to emulate
More than a thousand people took to the video sharing platform to comment on his antics, with some unable to get over his use of the word ‘fry’ instead of ‘chips’ and others startled by his order, saying: ‘Who goes and only gets ONE piece of chicken?’
Another aggravated user urged the Canadian: ‘Please don’t ever say “fry” again…that curdled my blood’.
One was left puzzled regarding Matt’s adoption of the South London ‘roadman’ aesthetic, asking: ‘Wait, why do you look so South London now?’
A different user remarked: ‘Love how you associate Top Boy with a chicken shop’, while one informed Matt that ‘the drink was basically included in the price’ to which he replied, ‘You’re lying’.
This comes after the TikToker tried the nation’s favourite meal last month – a Sunday roast. He revealed how he was left very impressed after tasting the dinner for the very first time.
