A Canadian dad who slammed Disneyland as the ‘biggest money printing machine on Earth,’ was also horrified to learn that even something as small as soda doesn’t come cheap in Europe.
Father-of-two Mario Zelaya recently took a trip to France with his wife and two sons, deciding to take his family to the iconic park when they were in Paris.
However, once he arrived in Europe, he found things were a tad pricier than he’d anticipated – including some refreshing beverages.
In a video Zalaya shared, he detailed the exorbitant price of a fizzy Coca-Cola at the family’s hotel in Versailles – revealing they were $10.80, or $15 CAD, each.
The father-of-two couldn’t believe how much the drinks cost
Zalaya also posted a video telling everyone to avoid Disneyland Paris due to the high costs
‘The 5-star hotel tax,’ Zalaya wrote on the video with a picture of the receipt from Bar Galerie, an eatery at the Wadorf Astoria hotel in Versailles, France, behind him.
‘Look at this, 30 euros,’ the dad said in disbelief as he pointed to the receipt.
The traveler went on to say ‘never’ in his life did he think he’d spend ‘$45 on three Cokes.’
His bill in total was 155 euros – about $167 in USD or $227 in CAD.
Many of his followers were astounded by the sky-high price of soda,
‘I’ve done that in Portugal . Wine was cheaper than pop and water,’ one user commented
‘Europe is soooooo expensive,’ wrote another.
Others commented the man – who is known for posting videos about how to invest and generate wealth – wasn’t in a position to complain about money.
‘Yes because Versailles is a universal symbol for frugality,’ joked one.
‘Tell me you’re using a money complaint to flex how rich you are with your Versailles vacation without telling me,’ laughed another.
He shared the costly drink receipt to TikTok
The father branded Disney the ‘biggest money printing machine on Earth,’ adding that the lines were too long
In another video, Zalaya slammed Disneyland Paris for it’s astronomical prices, saying he had a ‘dreadful time’ due to the ‘huge bill’ he and his family racked up.
In the now-viral video, with over 383,000 views, the father slammed the day at the famous theme park as a ‘huge mistake.’
‘I went to Disneyland in Paris. I’m almost embarrassed at how much money I spent,’ he said in the clip. ”Just the tickets alone, that’s $1,200. Why the hell would I do that?’
Zalaya’s other costs came from upgrading his family to premier passes to skip the line – which was an extra $173 per person, which he reasoned was cheaper than coming back to the park again.
‘Now, if you total up all the rides that we did, when we did all of the rides, we would have been waiting for over 25 hours,’ he explained.
‘You’re better off buying the Disney access pass to bypass the line then you are to buy a three-day parks day,’ he added.
‘The crowds are just endless,’ he declared. ‘My advice: don’t go to Disney.’
