Kensington Palace is set to open its doors to the public this Christmas with a brand-new tourist attraction, ‘ICE’.
The new event is set to bring festive fun to the Kensington Palace grounds in central London.
Visitors can expect an ice rink, shopping, food stalls, and VIP experiences, according to a new Instagram account.
Sustainability is a key focus of the event, which is designed in line with principles from the Terra Carta initiative, a scheme developing sustainable business markets.
A £1 donation from every ticket sale will be donated to a nature project that funds biodiversity and habitat restoration across the UK.
Additionally, ‘ICE’ will include HVO powered generators to reduce carbon dioxide emissions by up to 90 per cent.

In addition, the creators behind the event at Kensington Palace, home to the Duke and Duchess of Cambridge, will ensure that each vendor and contractor aligns with the commitment to sustainability.
The post said: ‘Located within the iconic Kensington Palace grounds, get ready to experience festive fun, stylish shopping, and VIP experiences with a unique view of the palace clocktower.
‘Putting the planet, nature and people at the heart of everything we do, this exciting winter village has everything you need to create magical memories to last a lifetime.’
While there is currently limited information on the event, a full reveal is coming on 6 September.
Royals have been paying close attention to sustainability in recent times, particularly Prince William, 41.
The Prince of Wales launched the Earthshot Prize in 2020 to help fund organisations tackling environmental challenges around the world.
In more recent times, it has been announced that he will write an introduction for an environmental handbook which teach young people about climate change.
This new book, which is published in collaboration with the Earthshot awards, will include a chapter by Sir David Attenborough.
It comes as Prince William prepares to undertake a major foreign visit to New York as part of his ground-breaking Earthshot environmental awards.
The Prince of Wales will attend the second Earthshot Prize Innovation Summit on September 19, where this year’s 15 ‘trailblazing’ finalists will be unveiled.
He will also undertake a number of engagements in New York City on September 18, details of which will be released at a later date.
Sustainability is at the heart of the event- and £1 from each ticket will be put towards environmental initiatives
The prince will not be accompanied by his wife, the Princess of Wales, but she is expected to join him in Singapore for the finals in November.
The New York Summit, held during New York Climate Week and the 78th Session of the UN General Assembly, will convene previous Earthshot Prize Winners and Finalists with policymakers, global business leaders, philanthropists and climate activists to scale their innovative solutions.
The prize’s global advisor, Michael R. Bloomberg, will also address the assembled guests.
Founded by Prince William and The Royal Foundation in 2020, The Earthshot Prize is a global environmental prize to discover and develop ground-breaking solutions to solve the climate crisis.
Five winners each year over the next decade will be given £1 million each in prize money, as well as specialised mentoring, to accelerate their ambitions.
The Prize recognises Finalists and Winners across five challenges, or ‘Earthshots’: Protect and Restore Nature, Clean our Air, Revive our Oceans, Build a Waste-free World, and Fix our Climate.
The event will put William on the same continent as his estranged brother, Prince Harry, for the first time since the former working royal made a whistle-stop visit to the UK for their father’s coronation in May.
The pair did not meet at the time, however, and are are not believed to have spoken since the death of their grandmother, Queen Elizabeth, last September.
Since then Harry has released his vitriolic memoir, Spare, in which he claimed to have had a physical fight with his elder brother during the breakdown of their relationship.
He and Meghan, who are based in California, also brought out their eponymous Netflix documentary which they used to make further hurtful attacks against the Royal Family.
